Before your first appointment with Dr Kho, you will need to obtain a referral from your GP.Dr Kho offers treatment for the following:

  • Management of heavy and painful periods;
  • Abnormal pap smears;
  • Contraception options (including insertion of Mirenas);
  • Recurrent Miscarriage;
  • Pelvic Pain;
  • Irregular period
  • Management of ovarian cysts
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome

All consultations take place at the North West Medical Centre. Meanwhile, all operations are at the North West Private Hospital.

Admission Advice

When you book your procedure with North West Private Hospital you will be given a form that outlines: Operation description (including date of procedure, approximate length of operation, last time for solid food before fasting, last water intake, time to arrive at the hospital);

Item Numbers (for private health insurance and Medicare);

Surgical Fees (Dr Kho’s fees will be fully covered by your private health insurance. Uninsured patients should notify the office staff and obtain an estimate);

Anaesthetic Costs (We will provide you details of the anaesthetist for you to obtain an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs);

Hospital costs

Don’t forget to bring a referral from your General Practitioner to your first visit. (If you are seeking treatment for infertility, your partner will need a referral also). You will be able to claim a refund from Medicare and the Medicare Safety Net for a significant portion of the fees. Health insurance does not cover office consultations – only procedures performed in hospital.

 

Operations

Dr Kho sends the bill for your operation directly to the health fund and usually accepts their rebate as full payment for your procedure. Uninsured patients should notify the office staff and obtain an estimate.

Some of the other doctors involved in your operation may charge above the health insurance rebate. It will often be necessary to pay some out of pocket expenses. These may include:

 

The Anaesthetist vary approximately $150 to $900 depending on the procedure (you may be eligible for a private insurance refund)
The Assistant Surgeon approximately $100 to $200
The Pathologist approximately $150 depending on your health cover
These doctors will often send accounts directly to you. You will need to contact Medicare and your health fund for their refund.
